Merry Christmas
Hero

'Twas the night before Christmas, in the freshly stained house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung up with hope and with care,
While soft little lights made a glow in the air.

But joy in that house was not wrapped up in bows,
It came with a heartbeat and ten tiny toes.

For Henley was there, like a brand-new sunrise,
Turning tired days bright, before our very eyes.

No sugarplum visions, no sleigh bells in flight,
Just her little breaths in the hush of the night.

And somehow the year, with its changes and strain,
Felt lighter and kinder and simpler again.

The world can be wild, loud, messy, and fast,
But Henley brought hope that was built to outlast.

Kona stayed steady, and Huxley stayed near,
While Ember looked harmless, or so it appeared.

So here in this house, where the lights twinkle bright,
Love sat in the quiet and stayed for the night.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night,
From this home made more hopeful by Henley's new light.
